David is praising God during delivery. This is recorded in 1 Samuel 21 in which David is running from Saul. As he flees, he goes through Gath, a Philistine town. In fact it’s the town of the former Goliath, the giant David had killed earlier in his life. He is captured brought to the King and released. David praises God even during these troubles.

When is the last time you desired to grow in your praise to God?

How do I grow in my thirst to praise God?

Praise God Continually vv.1-8

David is released from Gath, but he is still being pursued by Saul. Don’t wait until everything is ok before you grow in your praise to God.

True praise comes both with mouth and soul, it requires everything within us.

You can hear David’s desperation for God!  Looking back, can’t you see the sweetest moments are those times when you’ve had to totally step out on faith in prayer to see the Lord’s goodness.

Faith is the soul’s taste of the goodness of God!

Psalm 146

Petition God With Your Cry vv.9-17

You’ve seen God continually work in your life and you praise Him!  Why do we pray if God knows everything? We pray because we acknowledge our soul dependency upon Almighty God.

I know that one of my children really needs a diaper changed or food to eat.  I know these things, but when they cry it shows their dependency upon the parent. When we cry, we are dependent upon the Father. I wish that no one be uncomfortable, but many times those uncomfortable moments draw us to the Rescuer.

1 Samuel 7:8 “And the people of Israel said to Samuel, “Do not cease to cry out to the Lord our God for us, that he may save us from the hand of the Philistines.”  What happen? The Lord heard his cry and send a thunder that confused the Philistines and the Israelites won the battle that day.

Practice The Application of His Cure vv.18-22

You’ve said it, you’ve been dependent upon it, now live it.

Listen to what Jesus said in Matthew 15:7-9 “You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, when he said: “‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me; in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.
