Matthew 7:1-5

The enemy is defined vv.1-2 (ourselves) Ephesians 2:1-3 And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.

But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us,

Romans 5:10 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.

We are less likely to Judge others when we reflect on just how guilty we are.

The enemy is deceptive vv.3-4

Many go to hell because of the deception of self-righteous religion. Only Christ can remove our sinful hearts and cleanse us. Just ask and see His mighty hand at work.

The enemy must be destroyed v.5

Matthew 5:29-30 “29 If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell. 30 And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body go into hell.”

There is a big difference between being judgmental and restoration. Being Judgmental uses a self-righteous spirit to glorify oneself, restoration is to use a spirit of humility to glorify Christ and see a brother or sister set free.

Galatians 6:1 “Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted.”

How do we make war? We do whatever it takes, Jesus is very serious about us fighting sin! Run and spend time in the weight room, make sure you have a battle buddy, someone in the trenches with you. Put on the defensive armor and use the offensive weapons of the Word and Prayer! Make war!

“Be killing sin, or sin will be killing you.” John Owen

“I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.” SPEND TIME IN THE WEIGHT ROOM

1 Timothy 4:7-8 “

Have nothing to do with irreverent, silly myths. Rather train yourself for godliness;

for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.”

Salvation is free, but we will not escape this earth without making war on ourselves.
