In verses 17-25 Jude displays the correct action and response Christians should have toward nonbelievers.  Jude is responding to nonbelievers even in the church.

Recall

v.17 The only way that you will make it through sacrificial service is to recall the promises of God.  It is critical for us to remember God’s Word and cling to it.

As they throw stones at Stephen, he asked the Lord to forgive them!

Reconnaissance

vv.18-19 Identify the obstacles that are barriers to furthering the gospel.

2 Peter 3:2-3 “that you should remember the predictions of the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior through your apostles, knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires.”

Remain

vv.21-22 Remain steadfast in the love of the Lord and seek His will.

Rescue

v.23

Up until verse 23, every response is intellectual, meaning that they take thought, planning, but little physical action.  Now verse 23 requires action.

Luke 19:10 “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”

How do we proceed in Rescue?  Matthew 28:18-20

It will require absolute surrender to His worth v.18

We will not engage in rescue operations if we do not believe His worth and His Word.  What is the condition of the lost?

It will require absolute sacrifice for His will v.19

We will not engage in rescue operations if we do not believe from His Word that His heart is to see many saved.  It will cost you something Christian, it’s a sacrifice to see others saved.

It is impossible to experience faithfulness in the service of Jesus Christ without first experiencing sacrifice.  If your faith is not costing you something, it’s either not real or you’ve strayed from Christ.

It will require absolute service to His work v.20

We will not engage in rescue operations unless we are willing to work.  If you are not engaged in a gospel furthering ministry, you should be.  Making disciples should be our number one goal, every ministry should be held under the microscope of the Great Commission.

Relationship

vv.24-25

At the end of the day, after you’ve been hit, beat up, hurt, you are in relationship with Christ!

The biggest gauge for how much we love God is how much do we love people?
