Built to Last

1 Corinthians 3: 9-15

We all know the story of The Three Little Pigs.  The big, bad wolf came one day and blew down the house made of straw and the house made of sticks.  But when he tried to bring down the house of bricks, he huffed and puffed to no avail.  It was solid.  So, is there a lesson in this to be learned by the average Christian?  You bet! You just have to remember that every good story has a beginning, a middle, and an end.

1. The Beginning

Vs. 10 is a warning: Be careful how you build! Be certain of a firm foundation.  Does the way you go about your daily life reflect a firm foundation and materials that will last? (ex. healthy prayer life; daily bible reading; time to foster healthy family relations; ministering to the needs of others, etc.?)

2. The Middle

Vs 14: Be careful what you build with. Remember to use only sound building materials! – The Word of God

3. The End

Vs 15 reminds us that every person will be tested at the end of their life.  All that is meaningless will be burned up.  All that is meaningful will remain. Be sure that you have a meaningful past to shine through the test of your time here.
